
Mavs Face Chadron State and Quincy This Weekend

The University of Nebraska-Omaha hosts its annual Thanksgiving Classic this weekend.
The men's team will face Chadron State and Quincy, with NCC rival South Dakota also in town to play the same opponents.
The Chadron State Eagles are off to an 0-3 start following losses to Minnesota State-Moorhead and Concordia-St. Paul at a tournament hosted by MSM, then falling to Black Hills State in their home opener on Tuesday.
Senior forward Marcus Ligons leads the Eagles with 19.7 points per game, adding 8.0 rebounds, scoring a high of 26 points against Black Hills State.
The Eagles and Mavericks last met on the court in the 1972-73 season, in a game won by UNO, 110-62. Overall, Chadron State has won five of the previous eight meetings.
The Quincy Hawks stand at 3-0, posting victories over Hannibal-LaGrange, Grand View and Truman State.
Four players are averaging double-figures in scoring thus far, led by junior guard Andre Muse with 14.5 points per game. The Hawks have shot a combined 57.8 percent from the floor in their three games, while holding opponents to 35.9 percent.
The last meeting between UNO and Quincy came during the 1990-91 season with the Mavericks taking a 76-62 victory. Overall the teams have split six previous meetings.
The Mavericks went 2-0 in last year's edition of the Thanksgiving Classic. UNO defeated regional opponent Colorado State-Pueblo, 73-47, with Calvin Kapels leading the Mavs with 22 points. The host team went on to defeat Oklahoma Panhandle State, 68-48, in the finale, with Kapels again leading the way with 21 points.
