3 Mavs Named All-NCC, Thommes Freshman of the Year

Three Mavericks were named to the 2006 all-North Central Conference volleyball first team in a vote by league coaches, while Ellen Thommes was tabbed the NCC Freshman of the Year. Senior outside hitter Christina Reicks and junior middle blocker Carlie Christensen were both named to the first team for a second-straight season. Junior Nicole McLeod earned her first all-NCC honor.
Reicks leads this year's squad with 18 double-doubles. She finished seventh in the NCC with 3.64 kills per game and leads the team with 349 kills and is second with 388 digs. Reicks earned NCC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times in 2006.
Christensen led the NCC in blocks (1.34 bpg), ranked second in hitting % (.367), and was eighth in kills (3.61 kpg). She currently leads the Mavericks in blocks (1.19 bpg) and hitting % (.376) and is second in kills (3.58 kpg).
McLeod is second on the team with a .323 hitting percentage, while averaging 2.43 kills and 0.71 blocks per game. She ranked seventh in the NCC with a .306 hitting percentage and eighth with 0.84 blocks per game.
Thommes is third on the team with 238 kills and a .298 hitting percentage. She is second with 0.82 blocks per game. In the final NCC stats, Thommes ranked fourth in hitting % (.326), 11th in blocks (0.77 bpg), 12th in service aces (0.23), and 14th in kills (2.91 kpg).
Senior libero Stacie Wemhoff earned honorable mention all-NCC honors while leading the Mavericks with 500 digs which ranks sixth on the UNO single-season records chart. She finished second in the NCC with 5.41 digs per game and eighth with 0.27 service aces per game.
