Mavericks On Road to Play Minnesota Duluth

The Mavericks will play their final regular season road game Saturday afternoon at 3 at Minnesota Duluth in the first of two straight games against the Bulldogs, who come to Omaha Feb. 23. The game will be broadcast on KOZN, 1620 AM.

The Mavs suffered their fifth loss in a row Saturday, dropping an 83-57 decision to No. 22 Minnesota State, Mankato. The loss dropped UNO to 13-14 overall and 2-7 in the North Central Conference. Minnesota Duluth is 13-11 and 4-5.
The Series
UNO holds a 3-1 edge in the all-time series with the Bulldogs. UNO won both meetings last year, which was UMD's first season in the NCC.

Derrin Hansen is in his first season as a collegiate head coach. The seven-year Maverick assistant took over the program in June. He is a 1991 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. He served as the head basketball and track coach at Elmwood-Murdock, Neb., High School for two years and was a graduate assistant at Nebraska-Kearney while earning his master's degree in 1995. Kenya Crandell is the associate head coach and Mitch Mosser the assistant coach.

Minnesota Duluth has won three straight games and is coming off a 72-62 home-court win Saturday over North Dakota. UMD is 13-11 overall and 4-5 in the league and is tied with Augustana and South Dakota for third place. Coach Gary Holquist is in his eighth season as the Bulldog head coach. John Emerson, a 6-5 senior forward, leads the team in scoring at 13.6 per game and has connected 66 times from behind the arc...Bryan Foss, a 6-7 junior, is the team's top rebounder at 7.8, which is third in the NCC.
