National Champion Mavericks Add 3 Recruits

Maverick soccer coach Don Klosterman said today that three Nebraska high school standouts have signed national letters of intent or an acceptance of admission to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha next fall.
Jessica Powers of Bellevue, Kate Downey of Scottsbluff and Lauren Fox of Beatrice are the newest additions to the Mavericks, who last fall won the NCAA Division II championship in their fourth consecutive trip to the final four.
Powers is a three-year staring forward in soccer at Bellevue East High School and was voted the team's most outstanding player. She also is a two-year letterwinner in basketball. Powers, a member of the National Honor Society, is the daughter of Jennifer and Edward Powers.
Downey, the daughter of Lisa and Mike Downey, earned all-conference honors in 2005 at Scottsbluff High School as a defender.
Fox, a goalkeeper, was a first-team all-Class B selection as well as being an academic all-conference performer at Beatrice High School. Fox, the daughter of Deborah and Paul Fox, will receive a Regent's Scholarship.
The Mavericks graduated four seniors from last year's 20-2 team. Klosterman, who has guided the Mavericks all seven years of the program's existence, was named the national NCAA II women's coach of the year.
