Mavs Fall to Bearcats 6-3

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- In a match up of the top two teams in the North Central region, the second-ranked Maverick tennis team fell to top-ranked Northwest Missouri State 6-3 on Tuesday evening.
In singles competion, freshman Rachel Faulk earned a straight set victory over the Bearcats' Erica Ramirez at No. 2 singles, while junior Maggie Russell needed an overtime session to defeat Carolina Amaral at No. 3 singles.
Senior Abby Wilson and junior Katie Schmidt teamed up at No. 2 doubles to defeat the team of Amaral and Emily Lindsey, for the Mavericks only point in doubles competition.
The Mavericks(10-6, 6-0 NCC) will finish out its 2006 regular season schedule on Saturday against Division I opponent Iowa State, beginning at noon.
