Mavericks Take Early Lead at NCC Tournament

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Mavericks took an early lead during the first day of the North Central Conference Tournament on Friday in Grand Forks.
The Mavericks posted 34 points thanks to advancing their top five seeds into championship matches, with North Dakota sitting in second place.
Senior Abby Wilson, juniors Katie Schmidt and Maggie Russell along with freshmen Amy Pierson and Rachel Faulk all advanced to the title matches, while junior Katie Spahn will play for third place at No. 6 singles.
In doubles competition, the Mavericks had the day off with all three doubles teams earning opening round byes.
