
2 Top-10 Opponents Highlight Busy 5-Match Week

The 12th-ranked Maverick volleyball team (7-0) will have a busy week as they stay on the road for five key matches, including two against top-10 teams.
UNO will travel to Wayne, Neb. on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest with Wayne State (7-1). The Mavericks lead the all-time series with the Wildcats, 31-8-1, including a first round NCAA II Tournament win last season.
The Mavericks will then head to Topeka, Kan. on Friday-Saturday., Sept. 8-9 as they compete in Washburn Lady Blues Classic where they will face three teams that qualified for last season's NCAA II Tournament.
UNO will face Fort Hays State (1-7) in their first match on Friday at 9 a.m. The Mavericks defeated FHSU last week 30-13, 30-13, 30-19 in St. Joseph, Mo.
The Mavericks will then take on fourth-ranked Truman State (7-1) at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have advanced to the last two Elite Eights.
Nebraska-Omaha will battle 9th-ranked and tournament host Washburn (7-2) in a 5 p.m. match on Saturday. That match will be preceded by a 3 p.m. match against Emporia State (4-4) The Mavericks defeated ESU 26-30, 30-20, 30-19, 30-32, 16-14 last Friday in the Missouri Western Invitational.
The Record
The Mavericks are currently 7-0 on the season after going undefeated last weekend at the Missouri Western Ramada Inn Invitational. UNO opened the tournament by squeaking past Emporia State in five games. The Mavericks then reeled of three-game sweeps over Fort Hays State, Missouri Western, and Northwest Missouri State. UNO is now 6-0 on the season over MIAA opponents.

In the CSTV/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 preseason poll released on Sept. 4, Nebraska-Omaha was ranked No. 12. Truman State enters this weekend's tournament ranked No. 4. Washburn is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation. Wayne State received votes in the latest poll.
