Fosnaugh Goal Lifts Mavs Past Huskies

ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Erin Fosnaugh's first goal of the season midway through the second half lifted the Mavericks to their fourth-straight win, a 2-1 North Central Conference decision over St. Cloud State Sunday.
UNO, which is now 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the NCC, has won six of its past seven. St. Cloud State fell to 3-5-2 and 1-3.
Mykala Hanson staked UNO to a 1-0 lead with her fourth goal of the year off an assist from Dani McCawley just 8:56 into the contest. The Huskies came back to tie on a goal by Mary Sertich at 17:13.
The Mavericks applied steady pressure on the Huskies before Fosnaugh, a senior midfielder from Walton, Neb., converted a pass from Ali Portell to beat goalkeeper Elizabeth Kelly at the 72:14 mark.
UNO, in the middle of a stretch of four straight road matches, will be back in action at South Dakota Friday at 4 p.m.
