Mavs Host Defending Champions Friday

The road won't get easier for the Mavericks, who host defending NCAA Division II champion Metro State on Friday afternoon at 4 at the UNO Field, 68th and Spring Streets.
The match will be the first of a two-game weekend for UNO and will finish off a five-match homestand. UNO will host North Central Conference rival South Dakota Sunday at 2 p.m.
The last time UNO and Metro State met was in the 2004 semifinals when the Roadrunners scored a 2-0 win en route to the national title.
Metro State, currently ranked No. 19, will bring an 8-2-1 mark into Friday's contest. The Mavericks fell to 4-5 with Sunday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota State.
UNO is 3-2 in the NCC. South Dakota is currently 7-4-2 on the year and in second place in the NCC with a 4-2 mark.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Lauren Fox recorded her first career shutout in UNO's 3-0 conference win over St. Cloud State Saturday afternoon...Senior defender Kellyn Kramolisch, playing her first season for the Mavs after a four-year career as the starting second baseman in softball, scored her first goal of the season in that game...She was a four-year letterwinner and an all-state selection as a senior at Omaha Burke High School....the Mavericks are 0-2-1 in three meetings with Metro State and hold a 10-0 all-time edge over the Coyotes...Metro State and Washburn will play a match Sunday at noon before UNO's game against South Dakota at 2.
