
Mavs Shut Out Sioux for Sixth Straight Win

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Mykala Hanson scored two goals to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team to a 4-0 North Central Conference victory over North Dakota Sunday at Bronson Field. With the win, UNO swept its four-game road trip and extended its overall win streak to six games.
Hanson got the Mavericks (10-5, 8-2 NCC) started with a goal from the left side just 3:36 into the match. Brandie Beale earned the assist. A North Dakota own goal at 29:45 gave UNO a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.
Dani McCawley notched her fifth goal of the year early in the second half, with Beale picking up her second assist of the game, giving her a team-leading seven for the year. Hanson capped off the scoring late in the game with her seventh of year, tying for the team lead.
Ellen Petersen made three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season, and improving her record to 7-4. The Mavs defense once again stepped up, holding the Sioux (5-9-2, 0-7-2 NCC) to just five total shots.
UNO returns home for its next match, which will also be Senior Day, hosting Minnesota Duluth next Sunday at 1 p.m.
