UNO Hosts Minnesota Duluth Sunday on Senior Day

The Mavericks will honor their seven seniors Sunday when they host Minnesota Duluth in a North Central Conference match at the UNO Soccer Field, 68th and Spring Streets. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks, 10-5 overall, and winners of six straight matches, have moved up to No. 3 in the Central Region of NCAA Division II. The top six in each of the eight regions will earn berths in the NCAA II soccer tournament, which begins Nov. 9.
The Mavericks' seven seniors include Ellen Petersen, Brandie Beale, Kellyn Kramolisch, Dani McCawley, Ali Portell, Erin Fosnaugh and Niya Branch.
UNO extended its winning streak to six matches over the weekend with a 2-1 win at South Dakota and a 4-0 win at North Dakota. The Mavericks have given up just three goals during the streak, outscoring opponents, 15-3.
The Mavs defeated Minnesota Duluth earlier this season, 1-0, on a goal by Casey Bigsby in Duluth. UNO leads the all-time series, 8-1, after losing the initial meeting in 2001.
Mykala Hanson's two goals Sunday in the win at North Dakota tied her for the team-lead with Casey Bigsby with seven goals and also helped her win NCC offensive player of the week honors.
UNO finishes its regular season schedule at home against Augustana Nov. 2.
