No. 3 Minnesota Duluth Outlasts UNO in Five Games

OMAHA, Neb. -- Third-ranked Minnesota Duluth survived a scare from Nebraska-Omaha, outlasting the Mavericks 3-2 (24-30, 30-15, 30-18, 29-31, 15-8) before 562 fans Friday night in North Central Conference volleyball action at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks' win in game one marked the first time UMD has lost a game since Sept. 14 when UNO took the Bulldogs to four games in Duluth.
Senior setter Katie Agnew narrowly missed recording a triple-double, leading the Mavericks with 37 assists, 15 digs, and nine kills on .533 hitting.
Middle blockers Carlie Christensen and Ellen Thommes both registered 13 kills to lead the UNO attack.
Christensen added a match high seven blocks. Nicole McLeod was also in double figures for the Mavericks, recording a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs to go along with three blocks.
Three-time All-American and 2006 NCAA II Player of the Year Vicky Braegelmann led UMD with 21 kills on .405 hitting and five blocks.
Nebraska-Omaha will head to 10th-ranked Augustana on Saturday night, Oct. 6 for a 7 p.m. NCC match at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
