Six Mavericks Honored for Academic Excellence

Six members of the University of Nebraska-Omaha soccer team have been recognized for their achievements in the classroom in addition to the field, earning a spot on the North Central Conference Academic All-Conference team. Three of those players also earned a place on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-Region team.
Senior Dani McCawley, a mathematics major from Ralston, Neb., made the Academic All-NCC team for the third year in a row, as well as first-team all-region honors, with a 3.997 GPA. Juniors Casey Bigsby (3.518, secondary education) and Amanda Iwansky (3.867, real estate and land use management), each made the all-region second team, to go with their second selections to the all-conference team.
Junior Tara Wegehaupt (3.767, exercise science) earned her second all-conference nod, while sophomores Lindsey Nealon (3.898, Spanish) and Jessica Powers (4.0, exercise science) each earned her first selection.
The Mavericks (11-5, 9-2 North Central Conference) close out the regular season, as they play their final NCC match Friday against Augustana at 4 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.
