Goeser Leads UNO to 5-Game Win Over Sioux

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Sophomore outside hitter Kelli Goeser tied a career-high with 18 kills as the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team escaped with a 3-2 (30-16, 27-30, 30-27, 33-35, 15-10) North Central Conference victory at North Dakota Friday night at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
The Mavericks, who have now won six-consecutive matches, improved to 15-8 overall and 7-4 in the NCC. North Dakota dropped to 6-20 and 0-9.
Goeser, who hit .328 in the match, also recorded six digs and three blocks.
Two other Mavericks notched double-figure kill totals as Ellen Thommes had 17 kills to go along with four blocks. Carlie Christensen collected 16 kills and five blocks. Redshirt freshman Jenna Allison, who got her first career start, chipped in with eight kills and three blocks, both career highs.
Katie Agnew recorded her team-leading 14th double-double of the season with 53 assists and 14 digs while directing the Maverick offense to a .199 attack percentage.
Nebraska-Omaha was led defensively by Kayla Jansen's career-high 36 digs. Jamie Tooley added 12 digs and a match-high three service aces.
The Mavericks will conclude the regular season with a 4 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 3 at St. Cloud State.
