Tennis Team Hosts Graceland Friday

The Mavericks return home to host Graceland on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Hanscom Park Tennis Center. The first action begins at 6:30 p.m. UNO is 3-1 after winning two of three matches on the road last weekend.
The Team
The Mavericks won two of three matches last week on their trip to St. Peter, Minn., and are now 3-1. After suffering a 7-2 setback to host Gustavus Adoplus, the Mavs edged Winona State 5-4 and North Dakota, 7-2 on Saturday. Kylie Roe and Amy Pierson each won a pair of matches on Saturday. Sophomore Rachel Faulk remained unbeaten, winning her two matches on the trip. UNO returns six players from last year's North Central Conference championship squad that advanced to the NCAA II regional tournament. The Mavericks were 11-8-0 last year overall. UNO was 6-0 in the NCC and won the conference tournament.
The Coaches
Bill Nichols is in his seventh season as head coach. The 1980 Wichita State graduate has led UNO to two straight NCC titles and four trips to the NCAA II tournament and a 74-36 record. Nichols is the only head coach the Mavericks have had since starting the program in 2001. Prior to coming to UNO, Nichols guided the Wichita State men's team for 12 years, winning five Missouri Valley Conference titles. Former Maverick player Sarah Huls is in her second season as a graduate assistant coach. Huls is the career leader in singles and doubles victories.

The Mavericks are idle until going to Sioux Falls, S.D., Feb. 25 to play two North Central Conference rivals, Augustana and Minnesota Duluth.
