Mavs, Creighton to Vie at Hanscom Park

The Mavericks will meet Creighton University in an indoor match at Hanscom Park Tennis Center at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6. This will mark UNO's final home regular season appearance.
The match originally was to be held outdoors, but has been moved because of the weather.

UNO suffered three defeats in a five-day span to fall to 8-4 on the season.
UNO is 0-2 all-time vs. Creighton, losing 6-1 in 2003 and 7-0 in 2004...Kelsey Haas missed the last three matches with an injury...UNO's season has included a seven-match winning streak and a three-match losing skid...three of UNO's wins have been shutouts...UNO's postponed matches against Augustana and Minnesota Duluth in Sioux Falls, S.D., have been re-set for April 15. The matches were scheduled for Feb. 25, but were delayed because of a snow storm...Katie Spahn won all three of her matches last week to improve to 8-4.
The Coaches
Bill Nichols is in his seventh season as head coach. The 1980 Wichita State graduate has led UNO to two straight NCC titles and four trips to the NCAA II tournament and a 79-39 record. Nichols is the only head coach the Mavericks have had since starting the program in 2001. Prior to coming to UNO, Nichols guided the Wichita State men's team for 12 years, winning five Missouri Valley Conference titles.
Former Maverick player Sarah Huls is in her second season as a graduate assistant coach. Huls is the career leader in singles and doubles victories.

UNO's regular season will wind up with five matches in five days from April 11-15. UNO will travel to Kansas City to face Rockhurst to start the swing, then will play four straight NCC matches on April 14-15. UNO will host the NCC tournament April 20-21 at Hanscom Park Tennis Center.
