Bigsby Goal Boosts UNO Past Bulldogs

DULUTH, Minn. -- Casey Bigsby's goal at 14:40 put the Mavericks on top and the UNO defense made it stand up for a North Central Conference-opening 1-0 win over Minnesota Duluth Saturday.
The victory puts the Mavericks at 2-3 on the season before playing at Minnesota State, Mankato Sunday at noon. The Bulldogs are now 1-3.
Lindsey Nealon fed the ball to Bigsby, who beat UMD goalkeeper Briana Francisco in the right portion of the net.
UNO outshot UMD 12-2 and held the Bulldogs without a shot the second half. Ellen Peterson made two saves for UNO.
