Minnesota State Blanks UNO, 3-0

MANKATO, Minn. -- Nicole Johannson made eight saves and Laura Leber scored two goals to lead Minnesota State, Mankato to a 3-0 North Central Conference soccer victory over UNO Sunday. The win was the first by MSU over UNO in seven years.
The North Central Conference loss drops the Mavericks to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
UNO peppered Johannson with eight shots on goal and had an overall shot advantage of 15-9 in the contest. Junior forward Amanda Iwansky accounted for four of UNO's shots on goal and eight of its overall shots.
UNO had a 12-0-1 record against Minnesota State since losing a 2-0 decision in 2000. Last year, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Mankato before UNO notched a 5-1 win in Omaha. The teams meet again in Omaha on Sept. 30.
Leber broke open the scoreless game with her second goal of the year just 2:30 after halftime. Carly Petersen doubled the margin with her third of the year at 75:07 and Leber sealed the win with her second of the match at 85:14.
