Truman State is Road Foe for Mavericks

The Mavericks will try to keep their momtentum going after gathering their first win of the season last week when they travel to Truman State for a Saturday match. The kickoff in Kirksville, Mo., is set for noon.
Dani McCawley's hat trick boosted UNO to a 7-1 home win last Friday over Regis. The Mavericks are 1-2 and Truman State is 2-2. McCawley's three goals gives her the team lead. Amanda Iwansky and Mykala Hanson two apiece. This will be the 12th all-time meeting between the two schools, with UNO holding a 9-2 edge over the Bulldogs. UNO won last year's meeting, 1-0, in Omaha, and has won three straight in the series.

UNO coach Don Klosterman is now 144-29-6 in his ninth year as the Mavericks' only soccer coach...The 1974 Benedictine graduate is a two-time national coach of the year...UNO dropped from the Division II rankings after consecutive losses in California to Cal State-Dominguez Hills and No. 3 ranked UC-San Diego...The Mavs were ranked No. 6 in the pre-season poll...the Mavericks will be back on the road next weekend when they open their final season of North Central Conference play at Minnesota Duluth Sept. 15 and Minnesota State, Mankato Sept. 16...UNO will play five straight home matches from Sept. 21 through Oct. 7...Senior Dani McCawley had just two career goals coming into this year and scored three vs. Regis...the win last week ended a two-game losing skid, which matched the longest ever by a UNO team...
