UNO Visits Missouri Southern Thursday

The University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team will make its final road trip of the regular season Thursday when the Mavericks play at Missouri Southern at 7 p.m.
Last Week
UNO (10-5-0, 8-5-0 MIAA) played three MIAA matches last week, finishing 1-2. The Mavs opened the week traveling to No. 25 Truman State, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Bulldogs. They returned home and lost 2-1 to Washburn and finished the week with a 1-0 win against Northwest Missouri State. Both home matches were played at Creighton University's Morrison Stadium as field conditions prevented the Mavericks from playing at the UNO Soccer Field.
Scouting Missouri Southern
Missouri Southern (4-10-1, 2-9-1 MIAA) is looking to finish the regular season strong as it opens a four-game homestand this week against the Mavericks.
The Lions' offense has struggled lately as they have been shutout in their last five matches. Midfielder Nikki Llewellyn is tied for fourth in the MIAA with eights goals and paces the Lions with 17 points.
Lisa Senkle has started the last five games in goal for Missouri Southern and has collected 29 saves and a 2.72 GAA.
The Series
UNO is 7-0-0 all-time against Missouri Southern, including a 4-1 win earlier this year. UNO's last visit to Joplin came in 2003, a 3-0 win.
The Coaches
Head coach Don Klosterman has compiled a 167-38-7 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under his direction, UNO has advanced to at least the NCAA Quarterfinals in six straight seasons, including the 2005 National Championship. Klosterman also has been named the National Coach of the Year twice (2002, 2005).
Trevor Wachsman is in his sixth year as the head coach of Missouri Southern and has compiled an overall record of 40-49-19 and three straight 11-win seasons.
Next Week
The Mavericks will wrap-up their regular season next week at home when they play host to Southwest Baptist (8-3-3, 7-3-2 MIAA) on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. and Central Missouri (14-1-1, 12-0-0 MIAA) on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. on senior night.
