Regional Notes
For the fifth-straight season, the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team has qualified for the NCAA II Volleyball Tournament. UNO will participate on Nov. 21-23 in the NCAA II South Central Regional, which will be hosted by Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association champion Emporia State.
The Mavericks (16-15) enter the Regional as the tournament's No. 7 seed. UNO will take on the No. 2 seed Truman State (29-7) in the tournament's first round on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
Truman, ranked No. 9 nationally, won both matches against the Mavericks this season with the latest coming in a five-set thriller on Nov. 8 in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
A conference-record six MIAA teams qualified for the Regional, including Emporia State, Truman State, Washburn, Pittsburg State, Central Missouri and Nebraska-Omaha.
It marks the 18th time in school history and the 10th time in the Rose Shires' era that the Mavericks have qualified for the NCAA II Tournament. The winner of the South Central Regional will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on Dec. 4-6 at one of the remaining campus sites.
