HAYS, Kan. -- Juniors #Sara Kampschnieder and Ellen Thommes# combined for 21 kills to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) sweep over Fort Hays State Sunday afternoon at Gross Coliseum.
The win improved UNO to 14-13 overall and 10-6 in the MIAA. The Tigers fell to 9-20 and 2-13 in league play.
Kampschnieder hit .320 with 11 kills, five digs, and two blocks. Thommes added 10 kills on .389 hitting and four stuffs.
Freshman setter #Emily Myers# guided the Mavericks to a .273 hitting percentage while dishing out 36 assists and a match-high three service aces.
Paced by freshman #Lizzy Mach#'s five stuffs, UNO outblocked the Tigers, 10-2 in the win. Junior #Kayla Jansen# controlled the Maverick backcourt with a team-high 12 digs as UNO held FHSU to a .121 hitting clip.
The Mavericks return to action on Wednesday night, when they travel to Northwest Missouri State. First serve at Bearcat Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
