UNO Announces '09-10 Men's Basketball Signees

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball team announced the signing of two recruits for the 2009-2010 season today. Both recruits hail from Nebraska. Forwards Matthew Hagerbaumer (Lincoln) and John Karhoff (Omaha) will join the Mavericks next year.
“We're excited about these two student-athletes because of their size, which is sometimes hard to get,” said #Derrin Hansen#, UNO head coach. “We like their potential, and we like the fact that each player brings different skills to our program. They will give us the flexibility on both ends of the floor.”
Matthew Hagerbaumer is a 6-7, 195 lb. forward for coach Jeff Smith at Lincoln Southeast High School. He was injured during his junior season and did not play a game. In addition to basketball, Hagerbaumer also participates in track for Lincoln Southeast.
John Karhoff is a 6-8, 225 lb. forward playing at Creighton Prep for coach Josh Luedtke. As a junior, he averaged 9.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He was an honorable mention All-Metro and All-State selection.
The Mavericks are off until Wednesday, December 3 when they begin MIAA action with a game at Washburn University at 7:30 p.m.
