
Mitch Albers Scores 25 as Mavs Drop Bearcats, 73-6

OMAHA, Neb. – Sophomore guard #Mitch Albers# scored a season-high 25 points, making six three-pointers to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball team to a 73-64 MIAA win over Northwest Missouri State Saturday night in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA, while the Bearcats drop to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in MIAA action.
After trailing 5-0 in the opening minutes of the contest, UNO put together a 16-4 run over the next four minutes to take a 16-9 lead, fueled by six points from #Dion Curry# and five from Albers.
The Bearcats were able to put together a run of their own to end the first half, outscoring UNO 5-0, cutting the Maverick lead down to four, 35-31 after the first half.
Northwest Missouri State continued their momentum to start the second half, opening on an 8-4 run to tie the game at 39-39 with 15:51 left.
But the Mavericks were able to outscore the Bearcats 34-25 in the final 15 minutes of action, never allowing Northwest Missouri State to get any closer than three. #Michael Jenkins# converted 6-8 from the charity stripe to ice the game down the stretch.
Besides Albers' 25 points, three other Mavericks scored in double figures. Jenkins scored 12, making 10-12 from the free-throw line; #Dion Curry# added 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks; and #Aaron Terry# chipped in 11 off the bench.
The Bearcats were lead by Hunter Henry who scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Mavericks will hit the road next week when they travel to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the River City Classic. UNO will play host school St. Mary's on Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Dec. 21 at 5:15 p.m.
