Mavs Host Bulldogs, First-Place Minnesota State

The University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball will be looking for payback against two North Central Conference foes, as the Mavericks close out the final NCC regular season against Minnesota Duluth Thursday and first-place Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday.
UNO's victory over North Dakota last week helped the Mavericks remain in the No. 5 spot in the North Central Regional rankings this week. They will try to move up against UMD and MSU, ranked No. 15 in Division II and No. 3 in the region.
The Bulldogs stand at 9-16 on the year, 2-8 in NCC play, having lost 13 of its last 15 games. One of those victories, however, was a 73-56 win over UNO in Duluth, on Jan. 19.
Brian Sykora posted double-doubles in each of UMD's last two games, averaging 29.5 points and 10 rebounds. On the season he averages 16.6 ppg and a team-high 8.2 rpg. Jordan Nuness is the leading scorer at 18.2 ppg.
MSU leads the NCC with a 10-1 record, 21-5 overall, and is riding a five-game win streak. Atila Santos averages a double-double per game with 16.0 ppg and 10.4 rpg, both leading his team. Jake Morrow, who has led MSU in scoring the last two games, is close behind with 15.8 ppg, while Jadee Jones adds 13.1 ppg.
MSU has won the last three meetings with UNO, including a 94-82 win in Mankato on Feb. 16. UNO defeated MSU in the 2006 season finale in Omaha, 68-64.
