Mavs Clinch NCC Title, Move to 18-0 After Sweep of

MANKATO, Minn. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha moved to 18-0 in North Central Conference play, clinching the regular-season championship, taking two games from Minnesota State, 9-5 and 3-1, Saturday at Franklin Rogers Field.
UNO has now won 31 of its last 33 games, improving to 38-10 on the year. MSU, winners of the last two conference championships, falls to 23-20, 12-6 in conference play. The teams finish their four-game series tomorrow with another doubleheader, starting at noon.
Game one saw the Mavericks trailing 1-0 after two innings before a two-run home run from Evan Porter in the fifth inning gave UNO a 2-1 lead. Mankato tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, but Porter drove in two more runs in a three-run sixth, putting the Mavs up 5-2. The game was put out of reach with a four-run seventh, giving UNO a 9-2 lead.
Chris Kessinger (10-1) threw his second straight complete game, allowing nine hits and five runs, striking out eight.
The Mavericks trailed 1-0 after the first inning of the nightcap, but an RBI single by Chris Weimer in the third tied the game. Weimer scored the decisive hit in the fifth with another run-scoring single, while Dustin Koca added an insurance run with a groundout.
Koca (5-2) threw his fourth complete game of the season allowing one run on just two hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks.
