No. 5 Mavs Travel to Central Missouri; Host Missou

Omaha, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team will return to Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action this week with matches against Central Missouri on Thursday Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo. and against Missouri Southern on Saturday Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.
Last Week
UNO improved to 3-0 (1-0 MIAA) with a 1-0 victory last Thursday against Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo. Senior Casey Bigsby scored her second goal of year just 47 seconds into the contest and sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Fox recorded her second shutout in three games.
Central Missouri improved to 4-1-1 (2-0 MIAA) with a pair of MIAA road victories. The Jennies defeated Missouri Southern 2-1 in overtime and blanked Washburn 1-0. Central Missouri has faced two Top-25 opponents already this season. They dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 25 Quincy and tied No. 9 Central Oklahoma 0-0.
Missouri Southern lost its first two MIAA matches at home last week to drop to 2-3 (0-2 MIAA). The Lions lost in overtime to Central Missouri, 2-1 and then suffered a 6-1 defeat from Southwest Baptist.
The Series
UNO will look to continue its domination over Central Missouri, as the Mavs hold an all-time series edge over the Jennies of 8-0. The last time these two schools squared off was back in 2006 in the NCAA II Regionals, a 3-0 win at home.
Saturday's game will be the seventh overall meeting between UNO and Missouri Southern. UNO holds a 6-0 all-time advantage against the Lions. Missouri Southern's last visit to Omaha also came in 2006, a 5-0 victory for UNO.
The Coaches
Head coach Don Klosterman has compiled a 160-33-7 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under his direction, UNO has advanced to at least the NCAA Quarterfinals in six straight seasons, including the 2005 National Championship. Klosterman also has been named the National Coach of the Year twice (2002, 2005).
Central Missouri is coached by Lewis Theobald. Theobald is in his second season with the Jennies and has compiled an overall record of 17-5-5. He guided the Jennies to a 13-4-4 mark last year and a share of the MIAA title with Truman State.
Trevor Wachsman is in his sixth year as the head coach at Missouri Southern. Wachsman has an overall record of 46-36-16.
Next Week
UNO will be in action next week with a home match against the co-defending MIAA champions, No. 10 Truman State (5-0), on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.

The Mavericks moved up one spot to No. 5 in this week's NSCAA/adidas Division II Top 25 poll released on Sept. 16.
