AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team overcame a two games to one deficit to outlast Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-2 (25-27, 25-12, 24-26, 25-17, 15-8) in UNO's second match of the St. Edward's Classic Friday.
With the win, the Mavericks evened their record on the season at 3-3.
Nebraska-Omaha is now 1-1 in the tournament after being swept 3-0 earlier in the day to the host school St. Edward's. It marked the first ever meetings between UNO and those two schools.
Junior middle blocker #Ellen Thommes# led the Mavericks with 20 kills on .372 hitting, while adding four digs and four blocks.
Junior outside hitter #Kelli Goeser# recorded her second double-double of the day with 18 kills and 10 digs.
#Sara Kampschnieder# returned to the court full-time for the first time in the last four matches. She responded with 16 kills on .263 hitting and two digs.
Freshman #Emily Myers# directed the UNO attack with 45 assists and seven digs.
#Kayla Jansen and Angie Reicks# combined for 31 digs to lead the Maverick defensive effort.
UNO will conclude the tournament on Saturday with a 4:45 p.m. match against East Central (Okla.).
