MARYVILLE, Mo. - The UNO golf team overcame brutal playing conditions to capture its second straight tournment, winning the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State on Friday. The Mavericks shot a team score of 349 in cold, rainy and windy conditions to win by 30 strokes over the second-place team.
The Mavericks had five of the top seven golfers including individual medalist #Armana Christianson# who fired an 87 today. On the strength of her 78 in round one, she finished with a two-day score of 165.
Sophomore #Rebecca Pollock# shot UNO's best score of the day with an 83 and finished two strokes behind Christianson with a score of 167, good for second place. #Amy Powell# carded a score of 170 to tie for third with Missouri Western's Casi Webb. #Abbey Weddle finished in fifth place with a score of 171 while Ricca Soper# tied for sixth at 173.
#Elizabeth Havekost#, playing as an individual, shot 185 to finish third among all individual golfers
The Mavericks finished the tournament with a team score of 670. Missouri Western was second at 700 and Iowa Western Community College was third at 737.
UNO returns home to host its only tournament of the season, the UNO Fall Classic, on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 4 and 5, at Pines Country Club in Valley, Neb. It will be their final tournament of the fall season.
