Mavs Ranked 23rd In Latest NSCAA Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time this season, the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team (13-4-1, 12-1-1 MIAA) is ranked in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II top-25 poll released on Tuesday. The Mavericks, winners of their last four matches and undefeated in their last nine, moved into the 23rd spot. UNO is the only school in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ranked in the poll.
The Mavs moved from fifth up to third in the South Central region in the latest poll as well. The top-six teams from a combined pool of the MIAA, Lone Star and Heartland conferences receive NCAA tournament berths. The top two seeds in the region will earn the right to host first and second round play. The fourth and fifth seeds will join the top seed in one sub-regional, while the three and six seeds will meet up with the second seed in the other sub-regional.
The NCAA will announce the six teams selected to represent the South Central region via a video webcast selection show at 6 p.m. Central time on Monday, Nov. 9 on NCAA.com.
UNO is currently tied for first with Truman in the conference with 37points. The Bulldogs settled for a 1-1 tie earlier today with Missouri Western. TSU plays its regular season finale on Thursday, Nov. 5 when they travel to Emporia, Kan., to face Emporia State at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks close out regular season action this week with two road matches against Southwest Baptist and Central Missouri. UNO battles the Bearcats on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. and will square off with the Jennies on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m.
