HOUSTON, Texas - The UNO swim team made a modest move up the standings after the third day of competition at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships. The Mavericks are now in 18th place heading into the final day of events on Saturday.
The Mavericks had their best finish of the championship meet with a tenth place finish in the 800 yard freestyle relay. The team of #Amy Bechdolt#, #Tessa Edwards#, #Cait Hopkins and Lindsey Kline# swam a time of 7:38.91. That time was their fastest as a group, improving on their season-best mark of 7:40.78.
Kline continued her busy pace at the championship meet. After swimming her best time of the year in the 1,000 yard freestyle on Wednesday and duplicating that feat in the 200 yard free on Thursday, she finished the consolation heat of the 500 yard freestyle in fifth place. Her time of 5:01.83 was nearly identical to her season-best mark of 5:01.50.
The championship meet concludes on Saturday beginning with preliminary heats of the 100 yard freestyle featuring UNO swimmers #Katey Howarter#, #Kristy Gmeiner# and Hopkins.
