Faulk Named MIAA Tennis Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior Rachel Faulk was named the MIAA tennis player of the week after she started the spring season 6-1 at No. 1 singles and 5-3 at No. 1 doubles. She is undefeated in four MIAA matches.

Faulk began the spring with four straight singles wins, including a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 win over North Dakota's Emily Callison Feb. 14. Faulk and Kelsey Haas also picked up an 8-6 win over Emily and Katie Callison as she had a part in scoring two of UNO's points in the 5-4 loss to the Fighting Sioux during the Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) Invitational.

Her only singles loss was against Laia Gonzalez-Garrid of Division I Northern Iowa, 6-2, 6-2, in an 8-1 win.

Faulk then started out MIAA play with a three-set win over Southwest Baptist's Jolee Cook (6-7, 6-4, 7-5) as the Mavericks defeated the defending MIAA champion Bearcats, 6-3, on Friday . She also posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Missouri Southern's Kati Anderson as UNO claimed a 9-0 win Saturday (March 14).
