OMAHA, Neb. - Chase Petersen picked up a doubles point and then clinched the dual with a win at No. 4 singles to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 6-3 win over Minnesota State at Dewey Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The win, UNO's first ever against an NCAA II school, improved the Mavericks to 6-7 overall as they prepare for their final MIAA match Saturday against Emporia State. The match has been moved indoors do to expected rain and will be at 4 p.m. at Hanscom Tennis Center.
The Mavs took two of three doubles points and four of the six singles points.
Petersen teamed with Matt Frost for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and then he won at No. 3 singles to give UNO its fifth team point of the day. Frost also had a part in two UNO points as he won at No. 1 singles.
Marcus Hansen and Jon McQuistan won at No. 1 doubles and they each earned singles points.
