OMAHA, Neb. - #Ellen Thommes and Sara Kampschnieder# each had double-figure kills and hit over .400 as the Mavericks swept Missouri S&T, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21 Saturday afternoon in the UNO Volleyball Classic at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 9-3 and will finish action in the tournament at 6:30 p.m. Saturday against Angelo State.
Thommes had 17 kills and hit .727, the ninth-highest single-match attack percentage in UNO history while Kampschnieder added 15 kills with a .429 hitting percentage.
UNO hit .347 as a team while holding the Miners to a .066 percentage. Setter #Emily Myers# had 41 assists to help lead the offense.
#Natalie Ebke# led the defense with 10 digs while Kampschnieder and Lizzy Mach each had a pair of blocks.
The Mavs led the entire way in the first and third sets. The Miners led set two, 3-1 before a 5-0 run gave UNO a 6-3 lead. Missouri S&T never got within three after that.
Julie Meyer led the Miners with seven kills and she added seven digs.
