Baier Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha forward #Nicole Baier# has been named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association offensive player of the week for her performance at the Truman Labor Day Classic.
Baier scored three goals, including the game winner and added two assists to lead UNO to its first win of the season over Central Oklahoma on Friday. The Mavericks won 5-2.
The Omaha native took a medical redshirt last season and did not have any points through UNO's first two matches of the year.
At 5:57 of the first half Baier scored the first goal of her Maverick career. She added another in the 61st minute and completed the hat trick with a UNO insurance goal in the 75th minute.
Baier assisted on both of Jessica Powers' two goals.
She was held scoreless in UNO's second match of the weekend against 23rd-ranked St. Edward's. Baier attempted nine of UNO's 13 shots in the 4-0 loss.
The redshirt freshman now leads UNO in goals (3), assists (2), points (8) and shots (20).
The Mavericks (1-3) will be in action Thursday, Sept. 10 for their home opener against MIAA rival Missouri Western (2-2). Kickoff is at 4 p.m. at UNO Soccer Field.
