Maverick Golf Team Signs Two

OMAHA, Neb. – UNO golf team head coach #Tim Nelson# announced today the signing of two players for the upcoming season. Christina VonRiesen of Omaha and Brooke Thilges of Manhattan, Kan. will join the team for the 2010-2011 season.
VonRiesen is currently a senior at Millard West High School where she has earned four letters and qualified for the state tournament each season. She won three invitationals as a senior and posted the lowest stroke average in school history. She capped her playing career as a four-year member of the Presidential Honor Roll. She also won the Omaha Publinks Women's Championship last year. She is undecided on her major at UNO.
Thilges (pronounced TIL-jus) is also a four-year letter winner. As a senior at Manhattan High School, she served as team captain and helped lead her team to a third-place finish at the state tournament. She finished with a season scoring average of 80 and recorded her best finish, second place, at the Salina Invitational. She is a member of the Hole-In-One Club. In addition, she is a member of the National Honor society and a four-year member of the honor roll. She will major in psychology at UNO.
The Mavericks begin the spring half of their season at the Lady Otter Spring Invitational hosted by California State Monterey Bay on March 28 in Seaside, Calif. UNO is the defending champion of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
