Hansen Signs Two for 2011-12

OMAHA, Neb. – Two student-athletes – CJ Carter and Ethan Brozek – will join the UNO men's basketball program in 2011-12, Head Coach Derrin Hansen has announced.
"We are extremely excited to have CJ and Ethan a part of our basketball program,” Hansen said. “As a staff, we have followed CJ and Ethan's success last season and into the summer AAU basketball circuit, and they are two great local Nebraska talents that will have an impact for our program for years to come."
CJ Carter -- G -- 6-0 -- Omaha, Neb. (Omaha Benson)
Carter, a 6-0 guard, is a local product of Omaha Benson High School. As an all-state honorable mention for the Bunnies, Carter has averaged 16 points, four rebounds and three assists per game and was a first-team Metro Holiday Tournament selection. The son of Charles and Barbara Carter, he played AAU basketball for the Omaha Crusaders.
"CJ will bring some depth to our guard position and his versatility to play multiple positions within our offense is an added bonus,” Hansen said. “CJ's speed and quickness will help to create for others."
Ethan Brozek -- F -- 6-7 -- Norfolk, Neb. (Norfolk Catholic)
Brozek, a 6-7 forward from Norfolk Catholic High School, garnered all-state honorable mention recognition from the Lincoln Journal Star. He has averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game for NCHS and was a member of the Nebraska Bison AAU team. Brozek is a two-sport athlete in football and basketball and is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. The academic all-state honoree in football also boasts a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75. He is the son of Kelven and Nancy Brozek and has a twin sister, Courtney.
"Ethan has done a great job for us here at Norfolk Catholic," NCHS Head Coach Shane Anderson said. "He is an unbelievable athlete. He has great size, speed and strength, but at 6-7 it's his ball handling that makes him stand out on the court. Ethan takes great pride in the success of Norfolk Catholic; he is involved in many activities and yet finds time to help our younger kids by being a good role model and helping them develop into fine young men."
