Mavs Outdone by Balanced Fort Hays State Attack

HAYS, Kan. -- Tyler Bullock scored 18 points and Torrian Harris added 16, but it wasn't enough to slow down No. 14 Fort Hays State, as the Tigers cruised to a 98-69 win over UNO at Gross Memorial Coliseum Friday night.
The Tigers had seven players score in double-figures, led by Ken Bowman's 19 points, as they improved to 8-0 (2-0 MIAA). UNO dropped to 3-3 (0-2 MIAA).
Fort Hays State shot 36-of-63 (57.1 percent) from the field and outrebounded the Mavs decisively, 52-24.
Although they never led, the Mavericks took good care of the ball, committing only seven turnovers to the Tigers' 20, and turned that into a 24-13 advantage in points off turnovers.
However, Fort Hays State made up the ground in second-chance points (17-6) and points in the paint (40-28), as it jumped out to a 51-29 halftime lead and never looked back.
Mitch Albers connected on 3-of-4 from behind the arc for nine points for UNO. Matt Starks chipped in eight points in eight minutes off the bench.
UNO plays at Emporia State on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. Coverage will be provided by 90.7 KVNO.
