Mavs Sweep Doubleheader with Missouri-St. Louis

EMPORIA, Kan. - The No. 22 UNO softball team finished off a perfect 4-0 weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday at the Trusler Sports Complex.
The Mavericks won their four games in Emporia by a combined total of 27-2. On Saturday, UNO defeated Missouri-St. Louis 9-0 in the first game and 6-2 in the second game to improve to 14-4 on the season.
#Beth Haley# tossed a two-hit shutout in the six-inning win in Game 1 to improve to 5-3 on the year. Haley struck out 7 and walked none, bringing her weekend totals to 11 innings pitched, five hits allowed, no runs scored and 12 strikeouts to no walks.
#Lindsey Slocum hit an RBI single in the third and added a two-run homer in the fourth to lift the Mavs. Katelyn Hinton# also had two hits and three RBI, while Sara Elliott notched two hits and had two RBI.
In the second game, #Lauren Larson# knocked two home runs out of the park for a total of three RBI. Slocum picked up the win in the circle to improve to 4-0 this year. Slocum pitched all seven innings, striking out 10 and allowing five hits, as the Mavs built up a 6-0 lead before allowing two runs to Missouri-St. Louis in the top of the sixth.
The Mavericks will be in Springfield, Mo., next weekend for six games at the MIAA Crossover I.
