Mavericks Sit at 14 While Waiting on NCAA Seeds

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO hockey team was ranked 14th this week in both weekly college hockey polls. The position is a drop of two spots following the Mavericks' loss to Bemidji State in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs.
The Mavericks are now awaiting the announcement of NCAA Playoff seeds for the four regional tournaments that will take place on March 25-27. UNO is currently ranked 13th in the Pairwise Rankings and will need the higher seeded teams to win in all league playoff championships being played this weekend to remain in that position and earn an NCAA bid.
The Red Barron WCHA Final Five kicks off on Thursday afternoon with quarterfinal action.
Six WCHA teams are in the top 20 teams ranked by the web site USCHO.com. MacNaughton Cup Champion North Dakota is ranked first in both polls. The other WCHA teams are Denver (5), Minnesota-Duluth (11), Colorado College, UNO and Wisconsin (19).
