
Women's Tennis Travels to Drake

In Flight A singles, Lindsay Weideman fell to Drake's Manca Krizman, 6-1, 6-1 before dropping the consolation semifinal to Nina Pfaler, 6-2, 6-0. Flight B singles action saw DU's Kelsey Schmidt defeated Kelsie Olson, 6-0, 6-1. In the consolation round, Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Christina Collorasi of moved past Olson, 6-3, 6-1.
Heather Hottman started the tournament off with a bye in the first round before falling to Creighton's Mary McMullen, 6-1, 6-1. In her consolation round, Hottman fell to Drake's Ali Patterson, 6-0, 6-0.
Caitlin Christy sparked the Mavericks with a first-round win in Flight D singles, ousting DU's Amanda Dicks, 7-5, 6-2, which marked the Mavs' only singles victory of the tournament. Christy was later defeated by CU's Taylor Koehrsen, 6-2. 6-3, in her final appearance of the weekend.
In doubles action, Olson and Hottman were defeated by Weinreich and Zeppernick of Nebraska, 8-0. The duo moved on to consolation action, where they topped Fritz and Ganser (UWM), 8-1. Bigando represented UNO in Flight B, teaming up with Steward from Northern Iowa. The two suffered an 8-4 loss to Snyder and Vermillion of Creighton, as well as another defeat to Dix and Sampaio of UNI, 8-4.
UNO returns to action Oct. 1-2, hosting the Omaha Collegiate Invite. Matches begin at 9 a.m. both days at Koch Tennis Center.
