SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Sophie Peters carded two rounds in the 70s to lead the Omaha women's golf team on the first day of play at the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial.
The Mavericks are tied with Drake in 11th place with a team score of 646. Arkansas Little Rock leads with a score of 593. Host Missouri State is second at 600, and Oral Roberts is third at 602 after the first two rounds.
The final round is Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Rivercut Golf Course.
Peters had UNO's low round of the day in the first round, carding a 73. She followed that with a round of 78 and sits in a tie for 12th place at 151. Britany Seda is second for the Mavs and tied for 41st overall at 161. She shot rounds of 78 and 83. Elizabeth Havekost is in third for the Mavs and tie for 49th at 163 after firing an 82 in round one and an 81 in round two.
Katie Kesti sits in fourth at 171, good for a tie for 73rd. Melyssa Doerr rounds out the scoring for the Mavs at 173.
Brooke Thilges, playing as an individual, shot rounds of 82 and 79 for a score of 161 and sits in a tie for 41st.
