SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Sophie Peters shot the second-best 54-hole score in UNO history to close the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday. The Mavericks finished in 12th place.
UNO posted with a score of 974. Arkansas Little Rock won the event with a team score of 895, followed by host Missouri State (897) and Oral Roberts (909).
Peters' two-over-par score of 74 in the final round gave her a 54-hole total score of 225, good for a tie for 5th overall. It's the best three-round score shot by a Maverick this season, and it's second in school history only to the 222 shot by Sara Wolfe during the NCAA North Regional in 2008. Peters finished the tournament at just 9-over-par.
Britany Seda was second for the Mavs and tied for 56th overall at 247 after shooting 86 on Tuesday. Elizabeth Havekost was third and tied for 64th overall at 250. Katie Kesti was fourth for UNO with a three-round score of 253. She shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish 68th. Melyssa Doerr carded a score of 259 for the event at the Rivercut Golf Course.
Brooke Thilges, playing as an individual, shot 85 in the final round to finish at 246, putting her in a tie for 53rd.
The Mavericks will play their final event of the fall on Oct. 29 and 30 at the Braun Intercollegiate at Evansville.
