MANHATTAN, Kan. - Alex Overfelt led the Omaha men's golf team in scoring as the Mavericks took seventh place at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate hosted by Kansas State on Tuesday.
The Mavericks finished with a score of 959, closing with a total of 312 on Tuesday. KSU took top honors with a team score of 901, beating Idaho which finished at 912. Valparaiso was third at 938.
Overfelt posted a 54-hole score of 234, leading the Mavericks from start to finish. He shot 79 in the final round and was 12th overall in the field of 55 golfers who took on the Colbert Hills Golf Course. Mitch Johnson was second for UNO and tied for 26th overall with a three-round total of 241. He carded a 77 on Tueday.
Taylor Sidzyik was third for the Mavericks and 39th overall at 245 following a final round of 86. Mike Muller had UNO's best third round with a career-best 74 to finish at 247, good for a tie for 41st. Karl Krieser completed the scoring for the Mavs, shooting 82 in round three to finish at 254, good for 50th.
The Mavericks will enjoy a week off before returning to the course on Oct. 15 and 16 at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate at Kansas City.
