OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's basketball team stormed out of the gate and picked up a 79-67 win over Louisiana on Friday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.

Carolyn Blair-Mobley added 13 and Casse Vaughn chipped in 11 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
With an enthusiastic crowd of 647 boosting them, the Mavs came out strong and built a 12-2 lead in the first 3:35. Frauendorfer and Stacia Gebers opened with buckets for a 4-0 lead, and after a Louisiana basket, Blair-Mobley converted a three-point play for a 7-2 lead. House came off the bench to hit her first of three 3-pointers in the half and Frauendorfer scored after a steal for a 12-2 margin.
House connected on two more 3-pointers midway through the half, and the Mavs extended the lead to 22-8 with 13:20 remaining. But the Ragin' Cajuns battled back with a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 24-20 with 10:14 left in the half. After a Maverick timeout, UNO responded with a 10-2 run over the next 3:04 to extend the lead to 34-22. Frauendorfer had eight of the Mavs' 10 points during the run.
Louisiana pulled to within six at 34-28 with 4:45 left, but again the Mavs responded out of a timeout, scoring the game's next six points to make it 40-28. Jamie Nash drained a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give UNO its largest lead of the half at 17 points, 47-30.

The closest Louisiana would get after halftime was 10 at 55-45 with 13:36 to play, but as they did all night, the Mavs had an answer. Taijhe Kelly scored back-to-back layups, kickstarting an 18-4 Maverick run to the put the game out of reach at 73-49 with 7:05 left. While Frauendorfer was guarded tightly in the second half and attempted just three field goals, Vaughn stepped up, scoring nine of her 11 points in the second half. House also added eight after the break while hitting both of her 3-point attempts.
Sylvana Okde led the Ragin' Cajuns with 20 points. The Mavs finished the night shooting 54.2 percent from the field, while the Ragin' Cajuns weren't exactly cold either, hitting 45.0 percent. Still, the Mavs were in control all night after jumping out in front early. Nash had a game-high 11 assists and is now just three away from taking sole possession of third place in school history for career assists.
The Mavs are back at home on Sunday to try and extend their perfect start to the season as Northern Arizona visits for a 1 p.m. matchup.
