McCormick Named to Academic All-Summit League Team

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha junior midfielder Melanie McCormick was named to The Summit League Academic All-League Team on Wednesday, the conference office announced.
The award was voted on by the nine institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of 12 student-athletes were named to the team and honored for their academic and athletic performances this season.
Off the field, McCormick led the Mavericks by posting a perfect cumulative 4.0 GPA majoring in biology. The Summit League honor adds to a growing list of impressive academic accolades, as McCormick made UNO's Chancellor's List in 2011-12 and earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award in 2010.
On the field, McCormick started all 18 games as a center midfielder this season and had one goal and one assist. She scored her goal on Sept. 16 in a 2-1 loss to Portland State. For the season, the Omaha, Neb., native took 16 shots and put eight on goal.
