Mavericks Sweep Prairie Wolves, 7-0

OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO women's tennis team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan Friday evening in straight sets, 7-0, at Hanscom Tennis Center. With the win, the Mavericks improved to 1-1 this season.
In doubles action, senior Kelsie Olson and freshman Alex Tran finished their No. 1 match 8-3 over Erica Dickmeyer and Andrea Dasilva. Freshman Rachel Pierson and senior Heather Hottman also won their match by a tally of 8-5 against Terah Maloley and Hannah Husmann in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 doubles match, junior Lindsay Weideman and senior Caitlin Christy finished the sweep, defeating Maria Mota and Nicole Jacobson, 8-2.
The Mavs came out swinging in singles action also, sweeping all six matches. At No. 1, Tran defeated Dickmeyer, 6-0, 6-0. Olson fought hard at the No. 2 spot, besting Dasilva, 6-0, 6-1, while Weideman finished with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Maloley at No. 3 singles.
Jacqueline Baude pulled away with the win at No. 4, defeating Mota, 6-4, 6-4. Christy took control of the match at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Husmann, and junior Kelsey Bigando faced off against Jacobson at No. 6, winning 6-3, 6-4.
The Mavs return to action Feb. 10, facing future conference opponent South Dakota State at Hanscom Tennis Center at 6 p.m.
