ROMA, Ga. - Omaha Women's Tennis players Khayli Buckels and Katelynn Kock finished their time at the ITA Conference Masters Championship on day two of the tournament.Â
Â
Buckels (Ballwin, Mo.) and Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) fell to McNeese State's Ana Hollweg and Elena Morales Dorantes in the round of 16 in the doubles bracket. Hollweg and Morales Dorantes won the first set 6-3 and the second 6-2 to wrap Omaha's time in the tournament.Â
Â
"What a great experience for these athletes," head coach Adam Summitt said. "To compete for a chance to qualify for the NCAA tournament is something they can be proud of. Katelynn got to play some high level athletes in singles and see where we stack up. She had chances to pull away, however the level here is unforgiving and the opportunities come and go quickly."Â
Â
"In doubles, these two made history as the first to win a match at a national level in program history. I thought yesterday's doubles match was the best match these two have played all fall. It validates their level in taking down a seeded team and it can give them confidence. We just ran into a really good McNeese State team that did not allow us to play our style. I'm proud of these two and looking forward to some down time and training to prepare for January."Â
