Doluony to Join Mavericks in 2012-13

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha native Koang Doluony will join the UNO men's basketball team for his final year of eligibility in 2012-13, Head Coach Derrin Hansen announced Friday. Doluony, formerly a standout at Omaha Bryan, will transfer after spending four seasons at Indiana State.
Doluony, a 6-8, 195-pound forward, is eligible to play immediately upon enrolling in graduate school at UNO. He will earn his bachelor's degree from Indiana State this summer.
“We're looking forward to having Koang join our program, and this is a great opportunity for him to come back home,” Hansen said. “He will help shore up our needs at the wing position, as he gives us some length and athleticism like what we'll see in The Summit League. He comes from a good program at Omaha Bryan under Coach Tim Cannon, and we're excited for him to get here this summer to start preparing for the season.”
Doluony redshirted in 2008-09 before becoming a key reserve player for the next three seasons at ISU. He played his first two years for Head Coach Kevin McKenna, who formerly coached at UNO.
Doluony was a member of Indiana State's 2011 Missouri Valley Conference championship team. In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, he posted two rebounds and a steal against Syracuse. That same season, Doluony matched his career high of 14 points against Oakland City and tied his career mark of six rebounds at Evansville.
Over 66 games played with the Sycamores, Doluony shot 42 percent from the floor, averaging 4.3 points with 2.1 rebounds per game. As a redshirt freshman, he was one of ISU's top performers off the bench with an average of 7.0 points and 2.4 boards per contest while also shooting 44 percent from 3-point range and 79 percent at the free throw line.
Originally from Sudan, Doluony lettered at Omaha Bryan for Coach Tim Cannon. As a senior, he earned all-state honorable mention from the Lincoln Journal Star and was an All-Metro selection. Doluony was also tabbed a Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star as a senior, and as a junior, he averaged eight points and seven rebounds per game.
