Mavericks Defeat Emporia State, 6-3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UNO women's tennis team finished a two-match day on Friday with a 6-3 afternoon win over former MIAA peer Emporia State. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 4-11 on the season.
The Mavs took control early, winning both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. At No. 2, senior Kelsie Olson and freshman Jacqueline Baude defeated Alex Crowe and Jennifer Gerhardt, 8-2, while junior Lindsay Weideman and senior Heather Hottman knocked off Emily Huston and Abby Morris, 9-7.
In singles action, Weideman defeated Crowe in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. Baude, Hottman and freshman Rachel Pierson also posted wins in singles on the afternoon.
Nebraska Omaha returns to action on Monday, April 16, traveling to future Summit League foe Western Illinois. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start in Macomb, Ill.
